Ctapping screwed up my regular jumps ;/

imagine your way until you shot your rocket and then just adjust the angle and the distance between yourself and the rocket.
if the rocket lands directly under your model, it will push you up.
if it it lands a bit behind you, you will be pushed forward.
try to do a 27hp rocket jump without gunboats thats the minimum for doing a rocket jump.
the max is about 45 hps for a single rocket.
try it out and see what you get without falldamage.

welcome,
the ground is fine you do not need the wall except you want to be incredible fast (prem/plat)
i suggest to learn how you can control your jumps try to understand what are you doing for each jump.
this way you are able to improve quite fast and keep in mind dont try the jumps without doing the complete rollout its way more important to learn the little things between each jump (little bhop maybe?^^) because you will lose time in this situations where you cant handle it.
some timings for a few maps:

badlands:
Good:9:45 house rollout mappack split
best: 9:47/8 house rollout mappack split

(dont try the balcony direct jump it does not really benefit you that much.)

granary:

left side:
good: 9:39/40 by going out of the last door frame in choke.
best: 9:41/2 by going out of the last door frame in choke.

right side:
lower; good/best: 9:40 by going out of the door frame on the right side.

catwalk:
direct jump:
good/best: 9:39/40 after going out of the door frame.
with little medi pack in the room:
~9:37 after going out of the door frame

process is with normal choke rollout likely 9:43 at med pack 2-3 secs later then there roamer.
airpogo rollout is almost 9:46/7 1-2 secs faster then there roamer but a lot harder.

i think this is enough if you want to see more times watch some demos from prem/plat demomans.

first this map looks really good but something that makes this map really bad is that this map does not have a trigger_hurt its one entity and very easy to do.
i killed myself like 5 times now and evertime on a different jump.
trigger_hurt is basic for every jump map by now sometimes you dont need it but usually you should have it.
the rest got said but please use trigger_hurt in this map it would be so sad if not :/

the learning curve will get lower if you get better because you must learn to be consistent and thats just practice!!!

played a bit now and i just can say what cranck already said getting air control to work would be really helpfull for the actual gameplay some different colors for the map would be nice too cuz its just hard to see how fast you are.
tested the length of the bungee too but could not get it smaller again.
q and e did nothing for me.

sometimes i noticed that i got backswinged although i wanted to go forward sometimes it happens randomly and sometimes if i try to use mouse2.
hope to see this game later again with some new stuff
keep the work going!

Hey welcome,
you should press jump+crouch+shot at the same time (play with it later but for now do it so).
while in air hold crouch if you are trying to get up a vertical wall hold "w" too, but only then otherwise dont hold it while in air!
you also should try to make it slowly this can make it easier do it faster if you are sure you can do it :)
learing to rocket jump is a lot about practice some stuff is important to know but most will come with time.
if you are having trouble with jumps try to see what you are doing wrong but dont get stuck with just this jump come back later ;)

without remapping the doors it will not get solved.
if this happens on the server go into the irc maybe someone is there who can kick him or write his name down/screen it and send it to an admin.

Everything is preference but like crank said in some cases the other weapon can be easier.

I tested around 100 hours with both weapons before i decided to choose the stock.

My experience with the original is more about the movement you have to aim sometimes really far behind you, to make a jump or adjust a lot more while wallpogoing.
A lot easier were jumps where you have to get into something like a hole, just because you dont need to adjust with strafekeys/aim.
left wall jumps are as easy as right walls because you have to turn completly the same amount.

I played quakelive and i really like the original but in tf2 it just doesnt help that much if it is centered while acutally playing tf2.

The stock is more comfortable with the right shoots because you can shoot around edges what can be helpfull.
walljumps and normal jumps seems to be easier because you dont have to turn that much.
wallpogo seems for me way easier with the stock (but thats because i am used to i think).

most important is that you stay with your choice you can learn to jump with both weapons but usually you cant do both perfectly because of the muscle memory that is used for consistency.
stay with your weapon thats all :)

this was the best run so far really i am really impressed by doing some of the craziest jumps without any fail.
