Surf iT / SuSurf iT / New surf server discussion
« on: Today at 05:35:50 PM »
As most of you know, surf/susurf are the only real skillsurf servers in NA for TF2. With them gone in January we've got nothin' -- and we need somethin'.

Here's the deal.

I'm willing to put in the time to start up and run a new server based in Chicago. I haven't been surfing too much lately but have still been helping with the servers behind the scenes, and can definitely put in the time to keep a server running smoothly -- and hopefully get back to playing on it a bunch too.

What I CAN'T put in is all the money required. Running one server is going to run us a one-time fee of about $150 (see this topic) for the new surftimer with mysql functionality letting us link top times and all stats with aussie and whatever surf servers show up, similar to the skillsrank network for jump. Then, it's about $20 a month for the server itself. I can chip in, but I can't afford to pay all of it.

What I'm asking is if people would just post here if they'd be willing to put in either a one-time flat amount or a monthly amount (if 20 people are willing to do just a buck a month, that's that done right there) on a new surf server so I can gauge interest. In a month or so I'll ask for the actual donations.

The timetable for the new server is probably going to be around mid-January or whenever the mysql plugin gets done, so you've got some time to think about it.

Also, I would be looking for admins to help run the show. Truktruk is already helping out and would have access to everything also, as well as likely many of the current surf admins.

General Discussion / IU Lan, October 19-20

http://iugaming.com/events

Anybody near Bloomington, IN should check out this LAN next week. I've gone 7-8 times and it gets better every time. There are currently about 300 people signed up for it, costs $20 to get in and that includes dinner (pizza and subs), breakfast (donuts, juice, and coffee) and 24 hours of straight gaming. Tournaments with cash or gear prizes include TF2, LoL, SC2, and DOTA2, and there are servers running of all sorts of games to jump in and out of.

And, I'll likely be going out drinking with some guys the Friday beforehand if anybody's interested in that let me know.  :P

Sourcemod Information / Disabling caps on linux servers
« on: September 26, 2013, 06:48:53 PM »
Thought I would ask here:

We have a plugin to disable captures (specifically this one http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?p=1327225) and it works perfectly on Windows server, but not on Linux server. The command sm_cap_disable is in 3 places: autoexec.cfg, server.cfg, and as a test an individual map.cfg and none of them appear to execute when the map loads. However, typing the command in console works fine.

Wat do? Anybody know?

Surf iT / SuSurf iT / FYI to surf map makers/converters
« on: September 19, 2013, 09:32:33 PM »
If you name your teleport_destinations as follows: timer_stage1 timer_stage2 etc. (max 26 stages) people will be able to use !stages in surftimer to jump to a stage. Same thing works with bonus: timer_bonus1 timer_bonus2 (max 3 bonuses).

Just discovered that going through the surftimer code for the first time tonight. Thought some people would like to know that.

b4nny's team all had iT at the end of their names. Is this a jump iT shoutout? Was this known to everybody except me already?

EDIT: I just saw this.

This video sucks, as do my editing skills. But watch it anyway.

It should go up to 720p once youtube stops failing.

Jump IT / JuJump iT / How to enable Replays
« on: May 06, 2011, 06:52:47 PM »
Stolen from another Drunken Brawl admin, who stole it from the Unusual Hat Club head admin.

replay_enable 1 (This is already typed in)

replay_fileserver_host "****************"
- The hostname of the Web server hosting replays. This can be an IP or a hostname, e.g. "1.2.3.4" or "www.myserver.com"
Your web hosts domain name!

replay_fileserver_path c:/replays
- If your replays are stored at "http://123.123.123.123:4567/tf/replays", replay_fileserver_path should be set to "/tf/replays"
This is the local path leading to the replay folder, as if you typed in the previous setting's URL into a web browser, with this on the end.

replay_local_fileserver_path "*************"
- The file server local path. For example, "c:\MyWebServer\htdocs\replays" or "/MyWebServer/htdocs/replays".
This is the path to the replay folder on the web server. Must start at root or the drive letter (usually / for linux or c: for windows).

replay_fileserver_offload_enable 1

replay_fileserver_offload_hostname "*************"
- Hostname for FTP server where session blocks will be offloaded.
Usually the same as the file server host.

replay_fileserver_offload_login "*************"
- Login for session block offloading.
This is the FTP username to connect to your web server.

replay_fileserver_offload_password "**********"
- Login for session block offloading.
FTP password to connect to your web server.

Requests / Points for map completion?
« on: April 26, 2011, 02:24:12 AM »
IMO the ranking should give a couple points for just reaching the end checkpoint of the map even if you don't have a timer active. Should be less than a timed run obviously, and should disable if you use noclip or something (is that possible to do?)

Not sure how feasible that is, I wouldn't want to introduce anything that would let somebody exploit it for points without actually doing the map. But it seems like nobody actually does timed runs, making the rankings kinda off... I mean, I'm #16 overall and #6 on jumpit while I can name 20 people on jumpit alone better than me.

Unless I'm blind, there's no finish pole on rj_rckteer. Finished the map, went through the teleporter back to the start as usual.

Jump IT / JuJump iT / Trade mod
« on: December 28, 2010, 11:54:02 AM »
I've seen servers running a trade mod where you preface trading chat with /trade <msg> and can disable viewing of that chat channel on an individual basis. Is this anything you've considered for jump it?
