News and Announcements / TF2Jump Logo Pack
« on: February 18, 2012, 12:40:27 AM »
There have been some requests for high resolution versions of the TF2Jump logo.  This logo pack should be enough to make anything you want with the "brand."  There is clear transparency around each logo so that you can easily cut it out or even the individual letters.  If you have photoshop you can simply apply hue > saturation to the "JUMP" part to change the hue but keep the washed out pastel look.

Font Information:
"TF2JUMP" - Modified nevis, normal, sharp aa, -25 tracking
"Global Jumping Aggregate" - Droid Serif, normal, crisp aa, -50 tracking,

News and Announcements / Looking for Jump Auditors
« on: January 17, 2012, 12:00:58 AM »
I am recruiting for new jump auditors.  What this entails is relatively simple.

The statistics engine automatically flags times that are suspicious based on their length in comparison to both the course difficulty delta value and the top times for the course.  It also compares the given players skill level with the time that was set.  If any of the checks fail an automated e-mail is dispatched to all of the auditors (currently just me).

The auditor may flag the time as false or plausible.  A single flag as false will result in the time being stricken and the false time being recorded in a demerit database.  If a given player submits more than 10 false times, all of their future times are stricken from the database and they receive a ban on Jump iT.

If a server collects more than 10 false times I am notified and I review the server for general character and send a warning to the owner.  If the server continues to stack up false times (25+) they lose the ability to submit times to the global database.

As such a jump auditor has a significant amount of power--they can potentially force most of the servers off the skillsrank global database as well as obliterate other jumpers statistics.

A quick summary of the position:
- You will receive anywhere from 0 to 20 automated e-mails a week regarding potentially false times.
- You can ignore the e-mails if you think another auditor will review the time or if the run time is plausible

I won't take just anyone for this position given the "power" it entails.  To apply just reply with a link your steam profile (and anything else you want to throw in there).

Reasons for not being selected:
1. I don't like you
2. You're a nobody
3. You don't actually set times or care about times
4. You have jumped for such a short duration you could not possibly classify a jump as false or plausible

If selected I'll add you on steam and get some more info from you.
Here's a picture of a cat.  Print it out and give it to someone you've never talked to before.  Make a new friend.  Neat.

General Discussion / Website Update
« on: July 10, 2011, 10:24:58 PM »
It's like christmas, except you'll be giving me a gift.
The gift of testing!

The new website and related back end are now online.  Some services are still being integrated and may not be fully functional, and much of the website remains untested.

So now it's your turn to explore the new site.  Post bugs, ideas, anything you would like to see changed, etc.  The goal is to have most bugs ironed out this week, and 99% of all systems fully online as well!

When you see a bug, please include a) browser and version b) circumstance of bug c) a detailed description of the failure and optionally d) a screenshot, thank you!

News and Announcements / Notice about website usage
« on: July 10, 2011, 08:33:21 PM »
In the coming weeks we will be phasing out the use of this "News and Announcements" board.  News will only be posted to the front-page, and eventually this board will be removed.

The new publishing system will take the place of this board and supplement a few others.
Any currently running threads, such as the summer demoman project, the demoman map competition, and all others will be accessible and will continue to be used until such time that they are no longer necessary,

Thank you.

Jump IT / JuJump iT / Cabers

Cabers no longer reload.  Too many downies using cabers exclusively to beat maps they can't.

News and Announcements / On the topic of moving...
« on: June 04, 2011, 01:48:09 PM »
We're also moving the website to a new server.  The current server is throttling load times.  The issue quickly disappears when it is run from a different server.

Good luck everyone.

News and Announcements / Stats Database Movement and Updates
« on: June 04, 2011, 01:02:01 PM »
We now have a not-shit server for hosting the stats mysql and will be moving there later today.  Any server owners who currently use skillsrank-mysql will need to contact me on steam for the new stat database login information.

News and Announcements / Flying Monkeys and other related problems
« on: April 04, 2011, 08:39:46 PM »
Server outage for a few hours there, but we are back--lost some data.

Working on more fixes, turbulence will clear in the near future though!

Sorry everyone!

As you may have noted,
We have had several problems with the current hosting situation.

The good news is I have begun work on a solution that will move the stats database and tf2jump to a much more powerful server that
a) doesn't limit the number of mysql connections and
b) isn't the slowest server in the world: see JumpIT's stats/poles database.

The change will occur within the next few weeks and should be seamless--I will make more announcements as the moment nears and will attempt to contact server owners with the new database information as the time comes.

As to the matter of rush's plugins:
They will be kept as closed source as possible.  Any necessary updates and fixes will be made by myself--this is to respect rush as he didn't provide many details about his departure and we should honor his work and be optimistic about his eventual and hopefully prompt return.

Interested individuals should still contact me if they wish to work on any of his plugins, we need to keep the project alive!

That's all for now,
stay classy.

Bug Tracker / Pole Position
« on: February 18, 2011, 07:19:49 PM »
The pole on aznbob bonus is positioned so that it can be hit without finishing the jump.  (You can rub against the wall at the end at it counts.)

Feedback / New website online
« on: December 31, 2010, 06:45:23 PM »
The new front page and things are online--the map stats section won't be enabled until the database is populated by skillsrank.

It will also be converted to a forum theme once I gather the motivation,
enjoy.
