Introducing jump of the week and run of the week!
Tort and I are starting a weekly video series entitled JOTW and ROTW. Basically, you guys submit us demos to
tf2rjdropbox@gmail.com. We will watch your demos and decide on that week’s jump of the week or run of the week. We will then make a video of it and upload it to our youtube channel:
http://www.youtube.com/user/TF2RJweekly. We will strive to produce high quality content, both in terms of jumps and editing. It won’t be just tort and I unanimously doing the deciding fyi, we’ve recruited some demo judgers.
ROTW - Run of the week. The most impressive speedrun we receive of a jump map. This doesn’t have to be flawless, just as long as it beats out the other runs we receive in terms of difficulty. It can be as demoman or soldier. It can also be something like a soldier run on a demoman map. Only demoman and soldier though (no concing or scout jumping or something like that). You may use regen, but ONLY if it's necessary (like a soldier run on jump_koi for instance). It may be a section of a map such as the blue side of jump_annex or a full map run.

It can be on any map (even dev textured ones), and any type of jump (team or solo, soldier or demo, etc). It’s up to you, just be creative and show off a hard-to-do jump and you’ll have a good chance of making it. I must warn you that submissions like a series of speedshots on stock maps will have a very low chance of making it as a jotw. Already done jumps like the quint sync on pagoda won't have a chance either.
Submission requirements are as follows:- Upload your demo to mediafire (mediafire has a virus checker) and email it to us.
- You can submit multiple demos (demos submitted will still be viable for later jotws/rotws, not just the current week’s jump or run).
- For team jumps, submit everyone’s demo.
- In your email be sure to state your desired name to be shown on the video and nationality (for team jumps with multiple people, do this for everyone included).
- Specify if your demo(s) is/are for jotw or rotw.
- Try to have a sourcetv demo. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t (that way demos from servers can be still be used), but it’s HIGHLY preferable to have an stv demo as well.
- Try to end your demos soon after you get the successful jump/run. That way we don’t have to comb through your demo trying to find it.
How to make a demo:To record a demo, simply type record <demo name>. When finished type stop. That’s it! They will be put into your <steam name>/team fortress 2/tf folder.
SourceTV demos are necessary for third person shots. Without an STV demo, it’ll be really hard to make a well-edited clip. To use STV, start up your map. Type tv_enable 1 in console, then reload the map. When you start recording your normal demo also type tv_record <demo name>. When you’re finished, type tv_stoprecord (NOT tv_stop). You can’t make STV demos on public servers, unless that server is running sourceTV.
We hope to see some genuine interest and high quality jumps
Please spread this around to your friends, we want this to be a success. I personally want this to showcase some rising stars, not just the already well-known pros in the tf2 jump community. Hopefully we'll get some submissions from relatively unknown players.
