To my knowledge its always been that way, messes with the sound of the sentry gun when engie jumping. I don't normally wear my headset because the off sound messes me up, this also means ithat when I do conc I can't do much more than a 3 conc jump lol. Never knew about the timer, if that doesn't work for you then your best bet is to just get past the people that bunch up at the same jump, concing without sound for one or two jumps isn't too bad.
