« on: February 06, 2013, 04:59:56 PM »
I know some look down on spin binds, but I'm tired of breaking my wrist for those tight circle strafe areas. anyone want to share what their script/cl_yawspeed # is?

General Discussion / A thank you to the community
« on: January 08, 2012, 11:33:15 PM »
You guys have probably seen me around just a little bit of here and there. But I am posting this as a thank you to the wonderful servers klanana supports (doubt we've even met)
When I first started jumping, I was terrible, I could even understand how to wall jump (except for climbing upwards, but thats just holding w really). But with some support from the community and the wonderful plugins on the server I was able to learn from some amazing jumpers. Now six months later I am able completely finish basic and intermediate maps. Though I still get stuck on some tricky jumps, I just want to put this out there as perhaps some inspiration to the new people.
My greatest suggestion is to really keep practicing. At first you will nearly want to just straight up quit tf2, because you will see people beside you ace the jump you've been trying for the past 20 mins. But if you stick with it you will start to really improve. Technically one of the most important things I had to learn was air strafing. Even though I knew how to slightly do it, it was no where near the extent of what I am doing now.
This is my story of my jumping carreer and I hope to keep practicing and become great enough to full complete those pesky hard maps.
With great thanks,
Freddy_krueger

Hi, I'm freddy_krueger and I am new to jumping :D I have played many surf maps in the past, (can make it to the end on most intermidiate maps). My friend recently suggested for me to try jump maps. Well now I am in love with them. After playing on them for about 2 weeks I have got everything down, pogo, vertical wall jumps, and I do the INCORRECT way of wall jumping.

My way of wall jumping is that I start with a normal Rocket Jump, but from there I aim at the wall, hold "w" and position my rockets so that I go in the right direction. This technique allows me to get past the whole first 3 stages of Jump_Adventure. However on the 4th one (advanced/expert), where you have the long narrow hallway (and you have to make it through the door-like hole).

Please note I am not talking about the Tall walls in which you just hold "w" and shoot your rockets to go up. I am talking about the ones where it is horizontal. (The jumps like on Stage 3, Part 1 and Part 2 of Jump_adventure)

I am wondering if any of you have a step by step guide of how to properly do wall jumps? I know you are supposed to be looking forward the whole time and then press the correct strafe key to go back to the wall, but I am not sure of what other keys I might need to be presssing (besides crouch !)? It would be most helpful if someone made a video of themselves doing it, then doing a voice over of their step by step process of how they did it

I have searched you tube over and over for it, yet I can find no tutorials on this type of jump.
