Author Topic: Singleplayer jump vs. Multiplayer jump  (Read 871 times)

As someone who offline jumps constantly and has getting down almost all aspects of rocket jumping I still can't do half of it in multiplayer. I don't even go on jump servers anymore because I can't even do basics there. I get 50 ping and a locked 60 fps so what's going on? I've near mastered skip jumps, speed shots, syncs, and am starting to master ctaps. When I try to ctap in multiplayer it works maybe 20% of the time and it feels like the rocket hits a few milliseconds afterwards. Is there any reason valve didn't make projectiles client side? I don't think my interp or interp ratio has anything to do with it but I'm not really sure what's going on. I have 450 hours on soldier and for me to break this gap of single player jumping and multiplayer jumping I need to understand what's going on. Thanks to all.

you usually have a ping of 1 in offline server you just have to get a feeling for a higher ping it isnt that hard.
i used to jump offline a lot but can usually do it on other servers too.
speedshots are the only ones who are affected by just a little bit of ping diffrence. like 1 to 30 makes diffrences but its not that big of a deal.
rockets are client sided but they are even ping effected that can not be changed every client to server game has this little "problems"

You just have to get used to it. I jumped offline for a month or so and everything felt... wrong when I went back to jumpit. Don't get dissuaded by not being able to perform as well as you know you can.

What I needed :)

You just have to get used to it. I jumped offline for a month or so and everything felt... wrong when I went back to jumpit. Don't get dissuaded by not being able to perform as well as you know you can.

the skybox is the limit
Also, don't lock your fps at 60. I forgot exactly why, but higher fps even beyond your monitor's refresh rate will help you.

With Chirs' Max Frames, virus stuff, and a multitude of other things I've done to increase FPS I'm lucky I can even lock it on this. I'll see if I can lock it on 100

You only get good by jumping with 200+ ping. Offline is for the weak.

If more servers used the command 'tf_avoidteammates_pushaway 0' I would play multiplayer, why do people prefer multiplayer jumping anyway?

omfg, I don't, looks like it because of the demo and the 370 ping.

Better for gameplay, since you get used to the ping and it's just more fun since you can play with friends.

i play offline alot since it has the lowest possible ping it makes it quite easy to learn
