I am currently back working on maps again, gained alot of experience and looking alot more to design and such..
I am looking for 2 things:
How can i get fire (For a torch) (Tried env_fire and its not working for some reason)
And how can i get glowing blocks? Like some medium-light attached to an block?
If anyone could help i would be pleased..
I am searching around for hours now..

Decompiling and analyzing maps might teach you a lot ^^

for torches just look on lakeside or degrootkeep, (those maps have better way for torches than cp_egypt)

hmm well there is env_lightglow that does a nice light effect

it might help you to look on some youtube guides that are based on advanced lighting and stuff

env_fire is a hl2 thing. use an info_particle_system. like dias said best to copy from a map that has it.

use a light material, just search the mat browser and theres a few. using a lot of these can cause vrad to slow right down though
