The falling from the ledge doesn't affect the kind of bounce you'll be able to do, it merely varies height in order to reach certain distances.
You can walk off, you can jump off, you can jump up to a ceiling, and use that, you can go to ceiling crouched, and you can do what I like to call a cboost, (hold crouch, then press jump without letting go of crouch, not sure if fully crouching affects it) which isn't quite the same as a ctap. Any of these will vary the height you're at by any number of units. And bounces are quite specific in the units.
As for types of bounces, those come at various heights. You can either do a standard bounce with a synced rocket, or you can find a height where you can land and instantly jump (We've been calling bouncehop, or bhop). The only thing that determines this is the distance you've fallen (speed you've attained). The type of start is irrelevant. Double bounces or whatever don't actually make any differences, you're merely doing a bounce with a rocket, and then having a second rocket there to provide additional momentum, there isn't a bounce that requires more than one rocket to actually catch.
