Jump Videos / Re: My First Rocketjumping movie (teaser, reaction-gatherer)
« on: February 25, 2012, 03:15:19 PM »
Never abandon ship on anything you are passionate about doing, even if a few people say its a bad idea. use this for everything in life ;)
your video has potential but it looks like you just got the jump once then said thats good enough for my vid, you have to make it look clean and smooth its to jittery and looked liked you just "winged" it. do the jump you want untill it feels smooth.
like the second clip there looks much cleaner.

no checkpoints imo (what does an 'exploitable jump' mean?)

I'm assuming for pagoda, twist and tholos ect. where you can go to the tele room from the start, thats the only reason i could see for checkpoints.

well im an oldschool jumper theres nothing better than propel and tholos, obviously most jumpers are tired of it but these maps are still basic far away from pointless extending jumps till they get hard enough they are just awsome!

I hear that all these new maps are like "okay so ill make them do 3 skips then throw in a double rocket at the end just to make it longer"

yea just throw both options in there, I like both options dont get me wrong, but from a former mappers perspective I like having the non - regen option because i like seeing my jumps done how i mapped them to be done, like on rook 9 for example, i give 5 rockets to clear the jump but with regen it allows people to use 8 rockets and easily clear it. making  the map easier then intended. But at the same time its cool to just blow through a map with regen anyways like j2 has it set up ^^.

well we were talking about this last night on the server somewhat, I think you shouldn't disable regen but keep a record of whether it was hardcore or not so you could just show that in the times list. Having no regen would make things like doing demo maps as soldier impossible to do times for, and other things like timing rocketeer would just be lame w/o regen.

If it ends up being option 2 or 3 then that means a soldier cant do speedruns on the demo maps that a soldier needs regen for. just remember that people. and if you agree option 4 is where its at.

(just making that clear, not trying to persuade anybody)
