Jump Help / Re: Demo Air Pogo
« on: June 03, 2011, 12:09:22 AM »

So do you not crouch at all, or uncrouch after the second sticky (first air sticky)?

No crouching at all. You can try mixing it up as well. First airpogo=no crouch, second airpogo=crouch etc. It depends on what you prefer and what kind of jump you're trying to do.

Doing airpogos with sets of stickies is easier without crouch. Doing singles is easier with crouch. Speaking of airpogo's, I basically airpogo'd all the jumps in jump_ring2 because I have no idea how to do the jumps. :(

Yeah. I'm a party pooper.

Raiin in a nutshell.

Yes it does, but think about it
I can-t make really long surfing parts, cause with too higher speed you can-t really rocketjump
also, with just 1 or 2 surf ramps down when you jump you can-t go up, so it narrows down the possibilities

This brings me to a second point. Wouldn't this make the Direct Hit viable? With almost twice the speed as the normal Rocket Launcher, it might open up a different door. Now we have faster speed and faster rockets.

Yeah sounds awesome. Can't wait to see your map.

The aspect that intrigues me most about jumping is the speed, hence why I never bothered learning wallpogos. Hopefully jurf map or sump map or w/e it will be called will have more speed.

General Discussion / Combine surf maps with jump maps

Lets face it. Every jump has been done many times over and there is little room for originality left. So why not make a surf-jump hybrid map? It can be either:

1) Time-based: pass the obstacle/course in a certain time
2) Obstacle-based: just like normal jump maps
3) Something else altogether

I think it's time for something different. What say you?

Edit: Just read Raiin's thread. Seems Klana already brought this idea up.

The original server was dying before Deceiver went broke anyways. Twiggles and Reloading, our second best demo and soldier respectively, don't jump anymore. Raiin also quit so there goes our best player. Jumping gets boring because every single dam jump has been done 20 times already. There's no originality left in jump maps so people have no incentive for jumping. I have no idea how the Americans and Euros still enjoy jumping so much.

Next you need to make a jump map minigame.
You play the soldier who uses another soldier to do jump maps.

General Discussion / Re: How did you ultimately get into jumping?
« on: March 23, 2011, 03:50:26 AM »
I honestly can't remember. I came from a competitive fighting game(SSBM) background which involved some high level speed. I wanted to see if TF2 had anything like that since it's a very slow game.  I saw some guy climb a wall with rocketjumps in that arena_duel2 or whatever that small map is called. Later, I think I ran into a vid of Lexer's doing a jump map. From there I downloaded the maps he did and worked my way up. I don't think I've even used any tutorials tbh.

Then after completing loads of maps, I finally found a jump server. Even though I was new to the server, I was the 2nd best jumper, first being corpesy.

Then Raiin comes along and made everyone cry.

The End.

I am so copyrighting that quote.

just FYI....the Australian flag/globe is so much better than any other flag/globe.

Clearly this man has hit nail on head.

"Why are there so many british jumpers?" - some youtuber thinking aussies are brits.

Stupid Raiin hogging the title of a cool movie. Next time it should be called:
"Fiery of Dellort. Rated R. Don't tell my mother"

Sick jumps. Nicely synced music. Sick editing.

The two jumps that really caught my eye were 11's jump on Quba and banny's jump on walkway. Good shit.

Edit: lol'd at the tags.

Requests / Re: Less Courses

Except some map's bonuses are much harder than the map themselves. This discourages those who can complete the map (albeit with some difficulty) but can't do the bonus in any form to time themselves. Then competition reduces.

For example, ayers is an easy map but the bonus is in a level of its own in terms of difficulty. I can speedrun that map very fast but the bonus is undoable for most. (My internet connection also doesn't let me do pogos that last more than 40 seconds but that's a different issue.)

CrancK's plugins / Re: Conc plugin had some changes to how the blast works
« on: February 28, 2011, 06:20:16 PM »
There were already very few people who used concs in the Aussie server. With these changes, no one uses them anymore. I'm not saying the changes were bad but they surely didn't feel welcomed by others.

Just a heads up
