No tears now; only dreams
Is there a way to play tf2 or hammer without internet? A quick google search is telling me no, but maybe I'm missing something.

I don't understand why there's even an option to use steam "in offline mode" when you need to be fucking connected to steam to do it. It's mind boggling how you can't play anything on steam without internet... even a single player game like skyrim.

Couldn't think of something clever to put
Yeah it's dumb, you have to be online first then go into steam library or somthing, click steam in the top left then go offline.

I've never had a problem with steam without an internet connection.  I just go to my library list and it'll run fine (though, your loadout is a separate issue).

I've had friends who claim using the executables from your steam folder is also a nice work-around when steam offline doesn't work as intended.

So what is a donkey punch
I'm able to use hammer and steam while offline.
Or I could just put my laptop in sleep, then take it somewhere, then reopen into normal steam, just without internet

Steam offline is fine if you put it into offline mode beforehand, but if you just lose internet connection while online it starts to get weird.
